Hendrickson’s has manufactured its signature product, the Original Sweet Vinegar and Olive Oil, continuously since the early 1930s. The Original dressing was formulated at the Hendrickson’s Cafeteria which started at the same time.
The cafeteria closed in 1969; however, the salad dressing company has continued operations to this day. In October 2018, we closed our plant and now have the dressing co-packed by a reputable food company in the St. Louis area. In spite of this, our channels to the public remain the same as for the last 90 years.
Original Sweet Vinegar & Olive Oil: The Original Sweet Vinegar and Olive Oil was formulated as a cole slaw dressing with a moderately intense sweet/sour flavor. Very early it was integrated into many of the other recipes used at the cafeteria. It also works great as a marinade or baste for meats. Classic Italian: The Classic Italian dressing was developed in 2006. It has a great vinegar & oil taste, but with no oil. It has 80% less carbs and less sodium than the Original.
