About Us
In 1992, we purchased 15 acres of land on the bluffs of the Missouri River in south-central St. Charles County. We built a new home on the property but did not know what to do with the remaining land. What we did know is that we wanted to make the land productive in some way. My father-in-law suggested we plant pecan trees, which we did in 1993, after completing the necessary clearing and preparation of the land. My father-in-law, now at 91, has lived to see the hundreds of trees he helped plant and nurture become abundantly productive, which never ceases to delight him!
As a dentist, I am able to sell our pecans to my patients, which is very unusual but great fun. My patients constantly tell us how much they love buying pecans from us and how big and beautiful our pecans are and how sweet and delicious they taste. We also offer decorated containers of pecans for most holidays that make much appreciated gifts. Many times, nice folks come in the office to buy pecans and end up being patients!
Our whole family helps us with the harvest every year and we enjoy spending time outside in the beautiful fall weather while we work together to 'bring in the crop.' We never cease to marvel at nature's bounty and remember thankfully how special our pecans are to so many folks.
Product Description
Our farm grows two of the best-tasting Northern Pecan varieties available: 'Kanza' and 'Pawnee.' We also grow some additional varieties such as the huge 'Meramec' pecans - the pecan halves are big and beautiful and great for adding that final flourish to the top of any type of baked good because they are just so amazingly big!
Our pecans are shelled for us in a commercial facility, and we sell shelled pecans both retail and wholesale.
The pecans we grow are sweet and buttery tasting, light golden in color, fresh and delicious, US Grade #1. There is a stark contrast between the pecans we grow and those commercially available in most retail outlets. Because our pecans are so unique and special, I like to say we operate a 'small boutique nuttery.'
We sell our pecans to many chefs and bakeries in the St. Louis who confirm that our pecans are absolutely delicious and special. It is extremely rewarding to grow such beautiful, good tasting and healthy pecans, and to see how the people who purchase them use them in such delicious ways!
